Tony and I have been known to eat at Brasa more than once a week. It's our "fast food". We don't just eat there a lot because it's fast, that's just a perk. We eat at Brasa because the food has never let us down. It's always made with fresh ingredients and it warms me from the inside.

Brasa's star is their rotisserie chicken. It's tender, juicy, and flavorful every time. If you don't like your chicken on the bone, they serve it pulled in creamy gravy. It makes a great sandwich, one that they top with cabbage salad.

Brasa also serves pork, brisket, and depending on the location, sausage and catfish. I've never had the catfish, but I'd love to try it if I ever make it to Saint Paul. I almost forgot about the dinner specials. I had the prawns once, can't believe I almost forgot them. They were quite tasty too!

My favorite things at Brasa are their sides. They're mostly southern style, which I miss, and many are vegetarian. I have to have the collard greens with smoked turkey or creamed spinach with jalapeƱos every time that we eat there. Yellow rice with black beans are also a big favorite of ours. Mostly when we're very hungry, the price per portion is great. My friends rave about the sweet plantains and the crispy yuca. The plantains are warm and gooey. The crispy yuca is served with a mojo sauce, it's like fries and dip.

I'm not too sure about the desserts at Brasa. Tony has a piece of cornbread and I drink the sweet tea. That's dessert enough for us. I do know that they have a selection of desserts available. So if you have a sweeter tooth than us, don't fret.

Brasa is great in house or to go. Call your order in and it will be waiting for you.

  1. Oh, I LOVE Brasa, even though I haven't been there in months. The yuca IS awesome and I always have cornbread for dessert too. I have only been to the Minneapolis location and the biggest problem there is that there is often a wait and (at least in the past) the kitchen would be a bit backed up with take-out orders, but it's still worth the wait. I also really appreciate that they use fresh natural, local and organic products - the freshness really comes through in the food.

Now I am hungry and will have to make a trip there this week!
